Lucky Eva Mendes gets serious with Ryan Gosling

Ryan Gosling and girlfriend Eva Mendes spent New Year’s Eve in a romantic NYC hotel and New Year’s Day with Ryan’s mother.

Eva Mendes gets cozy with Ryan Gosling and his mom.

Neither Eva Mendes nor Ryan Gosling have confirmed they are dating to the press, but the two are rumored to have been an item since September 2011. Ryan Gosling spent the holidays with The Other Guys actress, and Mendes used the opportunity to get closer with Gosling's mother.

People magazine reports Donna Gosling, her actor-son Ryan, and the beautiful Eva Mendes were seen in New York City on New Year's Day at a local AMC movie theatre. People was unable to confirm which movie the threesome saw, but did note none of the actors' recent films were showing. A source tells People, "They all hung out and went to the movies together. Ryan and Eva seemed very happy."

Regardless of their unconfirmed relationship status, Mendes and Gosling are not shy with their affection for each other. Prior to the New Year's Eve weekend, Ryan and Eva were seen at the Los Angeles International Airport -- one witness talked to People about their public displays of affection. "They kept kissing and hugging while they waited to board their flight. Eva looked gorgeous and kept smiling."

For New Year's Eve the pair spent a romantic evening at the Bowery Hotel on Manhattan's Lower East Side. The boutique hotel boasts a vintage vibe with rooms starting at $325 a night. "While they waited for a cab outside the hotel, they kept kissing," People reports. "They both looked very happy."

Where was Ryan Gosling during the 2012 Golden Globe Awards? Thousands of miles away in Asia.

Ryan Gosling in Thailand during the Golden Globes

Were you wondering where our boyfriend Ryan Gosling was during the 2012 Golden Globes? You weren't the only one — many fans took to Twitter wondering where their beloved Drive actor was situated among the A-listers in attendance.

Sadly, he wasn't there.

"He's working, I think, in Thailand," George Clooney told inquisitive reporters before the show. "He wrote me a nice letter, an email, this morning. You know, he's gotta work, he's gotta earn a living, he's a struggling actor."

We expected him to be there, especially since he was nominated twice — "Best Actor in a Motion Picture Drama" for The Ides of March, along with "Best Actor in a Comedy" for Crazy, Stupid, Love.

However, duty called — and it's likely he's amping up his already-buff body for his role in the upcoming Nicolas Winding Refn film Only God Forgives, the story of a Bangkok police lieutenant and a gangster who "settle their differences in a Thai-boxing match," according to IMDb.

"We start in January. We're shooting chronologically. We'll be in Thailand for five months," Gosling told reporters in 2011, according to IndieWire. He didn't add much else about the film, only that "It's the strangest thing I've ever read and it's only going to get stranger."

And he's right about that. A longer summary of the film paints a surreal portrait.

"Julian lives in exile in Bangkok where he runs a Thai boxing club as a front for the family's drug smuggling operation. When Julian's brother Billy is killed, their mother, Jenna, arrives in the city. She wants revenge and forces Julian to find the killer. Julian's contacts in the criminal underworld lead him directly to The Angel of Vengeance, a retired police officer who knows everything and who is both Judge and Punisher. Jenna demands that Julian kill The Angel of Vengeance, an act that will cost him dearly."

5 Jaw-dropping Oscar snubs

$

The Oscars have done it again. Tuesday morning, the 2012 Academy Award nominations were announced and filled with blatant omissions. Ryan Gosling? Nowhere to be found. Michael Fassbender? Missing in action. Steven Spielberg? Never heard of him. Here are some of the year's biggest, and most jaw-dropping snubs.

2012 Oscar nomination snubs

Michael Fassbender for Best Actor

Michael Fassbender bared his soul in Steve McQueen's Shame, and has nothing to show for it. Yes, he has a Golden Globe nomination, but it pales in comparison to an Oscar. Fassbender was one of the frontrunners to earn a spot in the Best Actor category, but was edged out by two dark horses -- Demian Bichir and Gary Oldman. It's not a question of Fassbender's talent, but a matter of timing. Apparently, the Academy needed to give Oldman some overdue props.

Ryan Gosling for Anything

What happened to the year of Ryan Gosling? Over the past 12 months, the actor appeared in three stellar films, with notable performances in each. Drive, The Ides of March and Crazy, Stupid, Love showcased Gosling's range and proved that he's an actor who lives up to the hype. Unfortunately,  during the voting process he got lost in the shuffle and walked away with nothing. With a plethora of performances to choose from, how does that happen?

The complete 2012 Oscar nominations list >>

Steven Spielberg and David Fincher for Best Director

Has the world gone mad? War Horse and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo both had their fair share of problems, but you can't deny their amazing direction. Spielberg and Fincher's executions were flawless. Oddly enough, War Horse earned a Best Picture nod, but couldn't crack the Best Director category for Spielberg. Doesn't that seem strange? These exclusions feel unfair and slightly criminal.

The Adventures of Tintin for Best Animated Feature

This year's Animated Feature category had us scratching our heads. The Adventures of Tintin, which Steven Spielberg directed, was completely shut out. The Academy nominated Kung Fu Panda 2, Puss in Boots, Rango and the lesser-known A Cat in Paris and Chico & Rita. Nothing against the latter two, but Tintin was a cinematic accomplishment for multiple reasons. Its special effects, voice cast and direction were top notch, plus it had a great story. What's not to love?

Will Reiser and 50/50 for Best Original Screenplay

We were more than excited to see Bridesmaids' nomination for Best Original Screenplay but saddened by 50/50's absence. Will Reiser's retelling of his personal battle with cancer was inspiring and unique. He did the unthinkable by taking a painful experience and turning it into a comedy. His story was original in every sense of the word. Its omission is a huge oversight.

Eva Mendes: Ryan Gosling "satisfies" me

How does Eva Mendes really feel about her boyfriend, Ryan Gosling? She talks all about him in a new interview with Marie Claire.

Eva Mendes in Marie Claire

Eva Mendes is the cover girl for the March 2012 issue of Marie Claire and she's breaking her silence on Ryan Gosling! Well, kinda — she only dishes her opinion of his acting skills.

"He's your dream co-star," she said, referring to the film they did together, The Place Beyond the Pines. "I have never felt so creatively satisfied on a film."

We bet you're satisfied in more ways than one, right Eva?

The reporter tried to push a bit on their relationship status, but the 37-year-old actress wouldn't budge.

"Stop, just stop," Mendes joked. "I'm not gonna budge. I feel uncomfortable talking about it. It's too personal."

"Those are such boring topics to me," she added when asked about marriage and kids. "I am not that girl. I don't like talking about things that I want in the future because I feel by verbalizing such things, they won't come true."

Mendes was willing to dish on her past issues, including ones that led her to rehab in 2008.

Eva Mendes in Marie Claire

"It doesn't matter what you have or what you look like. It's something everyone has to work at. I realize I have contributed to a certain happy, healthy, empowered image, but that's not all of me," she said.

"I feel it's important to let women know that I have similar struggles. What I tell girls is, what they don't like about themselves now, they will probably end up loving as an adult, because that's what happened to me. When I am complimented on things that I didn't like when I was 13, like my overbite and my mole, that's when you realize that your imperfections are why people love you."

True that, Eva — but we're still mad at you for taking our boyfriend.

5 Guys we'd love to wake up to (and 5 we wouldn't)

Lucky Rachel McAdams! When she opens her eyes in The Vow after a bad traffic accident, she sees hottie Channing Tatum who — surprise! — is her husband. Sure, she has to get to know him all over again, but he's Channing Tatum! What's not to like? That got us thinking: What if we woke up, stretched our arms and found a movie star by our bedside? Which five guys would we love to wake up to? And which five guys would be such a nightmare we'd want to slip back into a coma? Here are our picks.

Yes, please!

1

Ryan Gosling

Ryan Gosling

"Hey, girl. I heard you have amnesia. Let me try to jog your memory." Insert kiss here. Is there anything that's more likely to bring about a total health 180 than the sight of the Gosling in a hoodie, maybe, and a man necklace of some sort, with a bit of scruffy facial hair and...? Oh, man, we're getting carried away.

2

David Beckham

David BeckhamJust once, we'd like to see the body that launched a thousand pieces of H&M underwear in the flesh.... In the sinewy, tattooed, sweaty, toned flesh. Does he even really have to talk to us? No. We just want to be the sole camerawoman in our own personal boxer-brief ad.

3

Daniel Craig

Daniel Craig

If the cause of our coma were something nefarious, and if we needed something, say, decoded or shot or tackled or kicked, rolling over to see sexpot Daniel Craig staring us down with those baby blue eyes and murmuring to us in that hot British accent would be welcome sights and sounds. Because not only is he a looker, but we also sense that he'd get to the bottom of our medical problems and set the record straight — especially if there were bad guys involved.

4

Zac Efron

Zac EfronWe like pretty, and angel-faced Zac Efron has "pretty" on lock. Just think: Golden sun rays are streaming through the window, making Zac's flawless skin and bare chest glow like a moonlit beach at dusk , and then he'd definitely say something thoughtful and inoffensive like, "Would you like some eggs and coffee?" Yes, Zac. Yes we would. And anything else you're offering.

5

Justin Timberlake

Justin TimberlakeHow about Justin Timberlake dancing a little jig to cheer you up? Or singing you a tune? Or, if you're really sad, having Justin bring Timbaland over and watching them sing–rap you a duet? Who better to croon a hospital lullaby than Mr. JT himself? But that's not what's so great about waking up to Justin Timberlake as your one and only. It's the personal satisfaction that comes from knowing you hooked him and no one else did. Boo-yah, Jessica Biel!

Up next: 5 Guys we wouldn't love to wake up to >>

{pageBreak}

No, thanks

1

Charlie Sheen

Charlie SheenThe Ma-Sheen is great for laughs, but being his bride? Let's not even joke about how scary that could get. On a somewhat brighter note, assuming no illicit substances are involved, spending a few moments with him post-coma would be the most simultaneously entertaining and terrifying 10 minutes of your entire life. Now that's an experience to check off your bucket list.

2

"Bachelor" Jake Pavelka

Guess what: Your new husband is a reality show suitor who may or may not be an actual pilot and also is probably a megalomaniac. We can see it now: He's strutting around the ER, flirting with the nurses and probably finding a nice clean corner of the hospital to do push-ups in. "What? The doctors don't know who I am? I was on Bachelor Pad, dammit! Do NOT interrupt me!"

3

Donald Trump

Donald TrumpTrue, The Donald is worth billions , but how many more iterations of The Celebrity Apprentice could you sit through and pretend to be fascinated by? Plus, if you're the type who likes to make over your guy, there's no way you could get him to change his signature hairstyle. At least you could befriend his daughter, Ivanka Trump, who, by all accounts, seems awesome.

4

Simon Cowell

4. Simon CowellWatch out, self-esteem: Your ego's new worst nightmare is having Simon Cowell as a husband. Can we even count the number of criticisms you'd be up against on a daily basis? "Your so-called miraculous recovery from your own coma was, frankly, uninspired. I've seen soap operas that were more convincing. Do us a favor: Close your eyes, go back toward the darkness, and try it again. The person in the next hospital bed would sell their soul to come back to life in front of me."

5

Criss Angel

Criss AngelThe problem with having magician Criss Angel as the love interest you open your eyes and see for the first time is that by the time you regain full consciousness, he'll already be gone — poof, just like that. Where is he? Vegas. Probably partying with Tommy Lee and some exotic dancers right now. Sorry.

Ewan McGregor in the Star Spotlight!

Ewan McGregor is one great Scot. With a nearly 20-year career garnering over a dozen award nominations and wins -- including, but by no means limited to: BAFTAs, Screen Actors Guild and Golden Globe Awards, this multi-faceted performer has been attracting huge notice from the start.

Trainspotting was one of the most raw and talked about films of the '90s, and McGregor was the star as Renton, an undecided drug addict who bounces back and forth between hating and loving life. Voted the best Scottish film of all time in a public poll, the movie catapulted McGregor to fame.

Vital stats

Height: 5 feet 10 inches

Birthday: March 31, 1971

Astrological sign: Aries

Hometown: Crieff, Scotland

Family: Wife Eve Mavrakis and four kids: Clara Mathilde, Esther Rose, Jamiyan and another daughter whose name hasn't been released

Hobbies: Motorcycles, singing

Critically acclaimed film after film followed, with McGregor often releasing several per year. Roles in fan favorites such as Emma, Moulin Rouge! -- in which he played the romantic hero to Nicole Kidman's tragic figure -- and Star Wars as the legendary Obi-Wan Kenobi cemented his place in pop culture and the Hollywood stratosphere.

Salmon Fishing in the Yemen takes the leap on love >>

In between such blockbusters, McGregor chooses films that are just plain interesting -- like 2005's Stay with Ryan Gosling and Beginners with Christopher Plummer. He chooses roles based on being someone new and even turned down a chance to play James Bond in Casino Royale for fear of being typecast.

One game he's happy to repeat is his epic motorcycle trips turned documentaries. In 2004 he traveled from London to New York via central Europe, Ukraine, Russia , Kazakhstan, Mongolia and Canada, riding as much of the trip as possible on a BMW bike with his bestie Charlie Boorman and cameraman Claudio von Planta. It was an adventure captured in the book and TV series, Long Way Round. They revamped their journey in 2007 with a ride from Scotland to Cape Town, South Africa in Long Way Down.

Man Candy Mondays: Ewan McGregor >>

These days McGregor is gearing up for his next flick, Salmon Fishing in the Yemen, costarring Emily Blunt. Based on the novel by the same name, the film features McGregor as a British scientist who finds himself reluctantly involved in a plan to introduce, well, salmon fishing in Yemen.

After nearly 20 years, does the actor have any plans to slow down? Not likely. McGregor has films lined up for release through 2013.

Bale beards it

Christian Bale has been known to change his appearance for pretty much every role he does. From the chiseled Wall Street preppy in American Psycho to the sickly thin insomniac in The Machinist, the Oscar winner always goes to the edge to embody his characters. The grizzly look he sported last year took it a little too far and had us all wondering when he'd get back to that clean-cut Bruce Wayne look.

Most couples consist of one half with style and the other half -- well, somewhat lacking to say the least. We all know duos who seem to come from opposite sides of the sartorial spectrum -- one has it and the other just wears whatever happens to be clean . This theory also applies to the fashion of celebrity couples, but some are much more well-matched where style is concerned. We have a rundown of some of the most fashion forward Hollywood pairs.

Most couples consist of one half with style and the other half -- well, somewhat lacking to say the least. We all know duos who seem to come from opposite sides of the sartorial spectrum -- one has it and the other just wears whatever happens to be clean .

Fashionable and famous pairs

This theory also applies to the fashion of celebrity couples, but some are much more well-matched where style is concerned. We have a rundown of some of the most fashion forward Hollywood pairs.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie

After walking countless red carpets together during awards season , Hollywood's reigning royalty stunned every time . The multitasking, globe-trotting parents of six keep their spotlight style choices chic, sleek and elegant. Pitt can wear a suit like no other celebrity we know and Jolie's catwalk-worthy frame can make anything she puts on it look like a designer gown. Together they're unstoppable where style is concerned.

Joshua Jackson and Diane Kruger

Joshua Jackson and Diane Kruger

One of the cutest couples out there , Jackson has benefited greatly from Kruger's eye for style. She always looks stunning on every red carpet and has managed to make something of a fashion-lover out of Jackson, who always looks pulled together and handsomely on-trend by her side. Whether she dresses him or he's solely responsible for his style-conscious choices, these two are among the most fashionably famous pairs we know.

Jay Z and Beyonce

Jay Z and Beyonce

Blue Ivy Carter was born into a seriously stylish family. Her superstar parents don't miss a beat when it comes to dressing in designs that get noticed, whether on stage, on the red carpet or chilling out on a yacht somewhere in the Caribbean. Beyonce and Jay Z seem perfectly matched where fashion choices are concerned and rather than try to one-up each other, they complement one another's favored styles.

Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling

Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling

This super-hot duo is still fairly new on the Hollywood hook-up scene, having met on the set of the upcoming film The Place Beyond the Pines and have been looking fabulous everywhere they're spotted ever since.

Both stars manage to keep things simple but chic and err on the side of classic fashion versus trendy styles. They both have a knack for looking understated but polished and no matter what they wear, they seem to smolder as a duo.

David and Victoria Beckham

David and Victoria Beckham

The soccer star and former pop singer-turned fashionista make for one of the most fashionable couples around. Victoria is always perfectly polished, whether attending the royal wedding, leaving the airport or toting around baby Harper Seven . Her sports idol hubby is equally blessed in the style department and can't seem to look less-than-perfect no matter what he sports -- a tux or beat up denim.

They make a particularly fashionable pair and see, perfectly matched aesthetically. No doubt they're also raising a brood of soon-to-be fashion-forward offspring. What are the bets Harper Seven is sitting front row at Fashion Week in a decade?

Ryan Gosling saves yet another life

Hey girl, what's Ryan Gosling up to these days? Saving women on the streets of New York, of course. You know, the usual.

Ryan Gosling saves a woman in NYC

As if Ryan Gosling could get any hotter. The actor — apparently back in the U.S. from filming in Thailand — managed to rescue a British woman from certain death by taxi on Tuesday afternoon.

"I literally, LITERALLY just got saved from a car by Ryan Gosling. Literally. That actually just happened," British journalist Laurie Penny tweeted, later clarifying with another post. " I was crossing 6th avenue in a new pink wig. Not looking the right way because I am from London. Ryan Gosling grabbed me away from a taxi."

Any volunteers? Ryan Gosling wants to be "making babies" >>

Sadly, he did not make our dreams come true, ala the Ryan Gosling meme that's been circling the interwebs for awhile.

"He did not say 'Hey, girl.' He said 'Hey, watch out!'" she added.

Um, swoon. However, she wasn't sure it was him at first. "Identity of no-idea-if-actually-a-manarchist-but-definitely-a-decent-sort Ryan Gosling confirmed by girl near me, who said 'you lucky b****'," she added.

Is Justin Timberlake jealous of Ryan Gosling? >>

This isn't the first time Gosling has rescue someone from the mean streets of Manhattan. Last summer, the Blue Valentine actor broke up a street fight — and of course it was caught on camera.

Did he want the publicity? No, he later told MTV News that the whole experience was mortifying.

"I'm embarrassed," he told the network. "I think that guy really was stealing that other guy's painting, so I should have just kept my nose out of it."

"It was sad, because it turns out that I said to the guy, 'Why are you doing this?' He said, 'Well, he tried to steal my painting.' I said, 'How do you know?' and he said, 'Well, he comes here every day and looks at my paintings,' which means the guy was a fan, and so he wanted the painting so bad he had to steal it because he couldn't afford it."

Well, at least he didn't mind his own business when a woman's life was in danger. Penny, though, is over the whole thing.

"EVERYBODY NEEDS TO CALM DOWN ABOUT RYAN GOSLING NOW," she tweeted on Wednesday morning, adding that her phone has been blowing up with media requests since the now-infamous tweet.

She would like to thank someone else, though.

"I would also like to thank the several other, more anonymous New Yorkers who have saved me from cars since my stay here #trafficfail," she added.

Ryan Gosling should've pushed that woman

The woman Ryan Gosling rescued from certain death is being rather a buzz kill about the whole thing. Read on to find out why.

Ryan Gosling

Ryan Gosling is a total life-saving dreamboat, but the woman he saved from certain death by taxi wants us all to get over it.

British journalist Laurie Penny was the recipient of Gosling's heroics, but she's so totally over it, you guys. In a smug rant about American culture posted on Gawker, Penny said there are much bigger issues on which we should be focusing.

5 Jaw-dropping Oscar snubs >>

"Everybody needs to calm down about Ryan Gosling saving me from a speeding car. It was a curious thing that happened to me on the way to somewhere else," she said. "I had just bought a nice pink wig to wear to a friend's party. I was thinking about an article I'm writing about birth control and the importance of reproductive freedom to women's rights, and I didn't remember to look the right way. An actor happened to be passing and stopped me from getting run over by a car. I said, 'Thank you.' And that was that."

5 Guys we'd love to wake up to >>

"But as a feminist, a writer and a gentlewoman of fortune, I refuse to be cast in any sort of boring supporting female role, even though I have occasional trouble crossing the road, and even though I did swoon the teeniest tiniest bit when I realized it was him. I think that's lazy storytelling, and I'm sure Ryan Gosling would agree with me."

Okay, we know she has a point -- but she doesn't have to be so smugly sanctimonious about it. Ryan, if you're reading this, you can rescue us anytime.

2012 men's
hair trends

We have a bit of a weakness for a hot guy with a great head of hair. And by now it’s probably pretty clear that we love looking at man candy!

So we decided to combine the two and bring you a list of the celebrity men whose hairstyles are both on-trend and smoking hot! You’re welcome, ladies!

We consulted Justine Piecuch, a hair stylist at Boston's renowned Jeffrey Lyle Salon, to find out what’s hot in men’s hair this season to give the men in your lives a bit of inspiration. And since we love you all so much, we’re sharing the hot man candy with you as well!

The 411 on men's hairstyles

Many women want to make over their man but have no clue where to start. That's where we come in!

"With GQ and many other sources available for men to reach for, there's no excuse for men to have 'no style' anymore," Piecuch says.

In fact, when it comes to hair, guys have it easier than us gals in many ways. "The great thing men have that women don't is that their style sticks around for a while. Hairstyles for men don't rapidly change as fast as women's," Piecuch says.

Without further ado, we bring you the top three hairstyle trends for men for 2012! We hope this will bring both you and your man some inspiration!

Disconnection

Michael Pitt

Celeb inspiration: Michael Pitt

Why we love it: “This look is great for anyone. It can be neat for business or appropriate for relaxed looks outside of work,” Piecuch says.

Get the look: Since this hairstyle requires shaving down the sides, it's super easy to keep clean and make sure the sides don't get unruly. The great part about this look? Your man can wear the top however he wants: Slicked back, pompadour, etc.

Maintenance: Four to five weeks between cuts.

Clean business

Ryan Gosling

Celeb inspiration: Ryan Gosling

Why we love it: "This is like the man's bob; it will never go out of style. This style is for the man who truly likes to be put together," Piecuch says.

Get the look: This clean cut classic business look has been around for quite some time and was even sported by many of the Kennedys. To achieve the hairstyle, part hair on the side and push it back a bit in the front.

Maintenance: Three to four weeks in between cuts.

Long hair

Celeb inspiration: Blair Redford

Why we love it: "I swear this is the fantasy man's look! This cut is for the very low maintenance man who is really laid back and naturally very good looking," Piecuch says.

Get the look: Does your man have wavy locks? Awesome! Piecuch says this hairstyle often looks best when men have a bit of wave. With the right cut, all he needs is a small amount of product. All he has to do is drag his hands from the front to the back and he's good to go!

Maintenance: Eight or more weeks between cuts.

It looks like all of those years on Grey's Anatomy have paid off: Patrick Dempsey — otherwise known as super sexy doctor Dr. Derek Shepherd on the hit ABC show — rushed to the aid of a teen involved in a rollover car accident last week.

17-year-old Weston Masset crashed and flipped his Mustang near Dempsey's home. The actor saw the crash and rushed to the scene, prying the injured teen out of his car with a crowbar. What happened next was nothing short of awesome.

"I was scared for my life. I was upside down," Massett told ABC News this weekend of the accident that rolled his car three times. He was barely conscious when McDreamy pulled him from the car, but he was lucid enough to notice his celebrity savior.

" 'Are you famous?' " Masset asked. "Yeah, I'm a doctor," Dempsey deadpanned back. Awesome.

Dempsey stayed with the teen until paramedics arrived and even called his mother to let her know about the situation.

"He had a certain authority in his voice," said the teen's grateful mother, Mary Beth Masset. "I asked if he was a paramedic and he said, 'No, this is Patrick Dempsey.' I thought, 'McDreamy?'"

The sexy actor now joins Ryan Gosling in the super exclusive club of A-listers who save people on a near-weekly basis. The Drive actor pulled a woman out of the path of a NYC taxi last month.

Don't expect Dempsey to milk this for publicity, though — his reps have refused to comment on the accident. Masset, now recovering from his minor injuries, is more than happy to sing McDreamy's praises, though.

"He was there for me. It would have been a lot worse without him."

Ryan Gosling and the boys of Gangster Squad

Ryan Gosling, Sean Penn, Josh Brolin and Anthony Mackey pull a bit of a Don Draper in sexy hats in the new movie about the crime underworld in 1940s Los Angeles.

Gangster Squad

You had me at Ryan Gosling. In a hat. I’m in. The trailer for the most anticipated period piece of the year has arrived. Gangster Squad is a crime movie about the invasion of the east coast mafia gangs to Los Angeles and the police department's determination to keep them out.

Who's bad and who's good? Does it really matter if everyone's hot? Kidding. We care about the plot, of course we do. Sean Penn plays Mickey Cohen, one of the most notorious gangsters of this era, and he didn't come to L.A. for a little R&R. This guy means business. Seen in the trailer practicing his right hook on a very unassuming boxing bag, it's clear there's gonna be some action in this film. "Back east I was a gangster, out here, I'm God," he says in a voiceover.

Sean Penn awarded for being a total jerk -- wins Peace Summit Award >>

That's why we have adorable Ryan Gosling to save the day as Sgt. Jerry Wooters. Too bad he's also got his sights on Mickey's dame, played by none other than Emma Stone. You'll recall the sizzling chemistry Gosling and Stone had in last summer's indie rom-com Crazy, Stupid, Love, which means there's bound to be trouble with any kind of flirtation between these two. Maybe he'll take off his fedora and she'll go dirty dancing right up into his arms .

Ryan Gosling saves yet another life, woman in NYC >>

Anthony Mackey in that tight shirt… Hello... plays Rocky Washington. Josh Brolin is John O'Mara, and Nick Nolte is Bill Parker. Machine guns, old cars, vintage L.A. and more fedoras than an episode of Mad Men, this looks like fun.

Is Anthony Mackey remaking The Notebook…? >>

Who knew Ryan Gosling could dance like that?

We all have embarrassing videos of ourselves doing goofy talent shows as kids. But Ryan Gosling's video is about to go viral. Wait until you catch the Drive star dancing to C&C Music Factory. A must-see.

Ryan GoslingSurprise, Ryan Gosling! That video you probably were hoping no one would ever see has surfaced. And you thought Drive showed us a different side of the talented actor. Wait until you see his latest video.

OK, so it’s actually an old video from 1991 that Gosling probably wishes stayed buried. But Gosling apparently entertained crowds at a Mormon talent show at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Cornwall, Ontario, and the footage of his performance has to be the greatest video you’ll see today.

The clip was discovered by Ontario, Canada native Gary Saldivia, who shared a tape with OMG Yahoo.

“It was collecting dust in the garage,” he tells Yahoo. “[Gosling] had some moves even as a kid!”

As you can see in the video below, the Crazy, Stupid, Love star had serious pipes, as well. The clip kicks off with Gosling serenading the audience with the ballad “When a Man Loves a Woman.” A quick edits finds the 10-year-old star dancing to C&C Music Factory’s “Everybody Dance Now.”

Prepare to be amazed:

Ryan Gosling Dance

The talent show was held two full years before Gosling became a cast member on Disney’s Mickey Mouse Club, where he co-starred opposite Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears. Of course, since then, Gosling has entertained the world with films like Half Nelson, Blue Valentine and Lars & the Real Girl. His next picture is a period crime thriller titled The Gangster Squad.

But there’s no way it can be half as entertaining as this. At least Gosling knows that much like Channing Tatum, if this whole “acting” thing doesn’t work out, he has a career in dance waiting in the wings. Everybody dance now.

Seeking a Friend for the End of the World star Steve Carell shares his apocalypse must haves with SheKnows, and tells us why Ryan Gosling makes this list.
Steve Carell interview

Steve Carell talks Seeking a Friend for the End of World.

In Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, Steve Carell and Keira Knightley form an unlikely friendship after both are unable to spend their last days with loved ones.

So who would Carell pick out of his buds to share his last moments with? FYI, his wife was not an option in this hypothetical.

“Maybe Ryan Gosling,” Steve told SheKnows. “He’s just a cool, fun guy. He’d probably make you feel sort of relaxed because he’s a very chill dude. He could hold me in his strong arms.”

Steve Carell and Keira Knightley, Seeking a Friend for the End of the World

Sounds like a bromance has brewed between the two Crazy, Stupid, Love co-stars! In all actuality, Steve would clearly want his companion to be wife, Nancy, who makes a brief cameo in the film.

When asked what three things he would bring into his apocalypse shelter, Nancy’s needs were clearly considered.

“I would bring a toothbrush, because you have to consider personal hygiene,” Steve said. “I would bring along another toothbrush for my wife. I’m assuming she’s there with me, and a tube of toothpaste. You might as well take care of yourself.”

But if there’s no chance of survival, Steve knows exactly what he’ll be savoring in the end.

“I tend to gravitate to really, really bad-for-you food,” he told us. “I think you eat all the pasta you want, you have that red meat and all the sauces, and all the fried food. And you just don’t care.”

Sounds like a delicious way to go!

Be sure to catch Steve Carell and his co-star Keira Knightley in Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, in theaters today!

Dreamy Ryan Gosling inspired R. Kelly's divorce

R. Kelly was feeling trapped in the closet of a loveless marriage when the Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams romance The Notebook inspired him to believe in himself and fly away.

R Kelly divorced over the Notebook

Man, we just love R. Kelly. The "Trapped in the Closet" singer is either blissfully unaware of what he says, or he just doesn't care. Whatever the reason, we hope he never stops giving us his hilarious truth. The latest? Kelly reveals in his new autobiography, Soulacoaster: The Diary of Me, that the 2004 adaptation of Nicholas Sparks' The Notebook inspired him to divorce his wife of 12 years, Andrea Kelly.

Say what? Yes, you read that correctly.

"As the film credits started to roll, I couldn't move," Kelly writes in the book. "I burst into tears. People walking past me patted me on the back, trying to console me. The Notebook was beautiful, and I was crying because its hero and heroine had died together."

It's true! R. Kelly adding to Trapped in the Closet >>

We all cried during that part, but Kelly said it made him realize something.

"But I was also crying because I remembered a Valentine's Day — when a helicopter dropped a rainfall of roses — that had come and gone ... My marriage had died. And there was nothing I could do to bring it back."

R. Kelly losing his Chicago mansion >>

So, so heartbreaking — we'd divorce for Ryan Gosling too, Kelly. Except Andrea says it's not true.

"[The movie] came out in 2004 and we saw it together. Our divorce wasn’t finalized until 2009 so it’s impossible that the movie could have been the reason for our relationship ending," she told TMZ on Tuesday. "We had been separated for 6 years at that point! The movie definitely did not end our relationship!

We wonder which movie inspired him to pursue teenage girls for sex? Allegedly, of course.

Gangster Squad to re-shoot movie theater scene

After the tragic shooting at a Colorado movie theater, The Dark Knight Rises' studio has decided to change the story for their upcoming gangster flick.

Gangster Squad

The same day of the movie theater shooting at a Dark Knight Rises premiere, Warner Bros. pulled previews for their long-awaited film Gangster Squad.

The scene they were worried about showed a shooting a movie theater, similar to what happened in the early morning hours of July 20in Aurora, Colorado. But now, they have decided to pull that scene, and others, out of the film altogether.

“Warner Bros. is moving the release of Gangster Squad to Jan. 11,” said The Hollywood Reporter, “postponing it from its scheduled Sept. 7 release date in order to accommodate reshoots because of a scene of a movie theater shoot-out in the completed film that became problematic in the wake of the Aurora, Colo. massacre.”

The January 11 date is so far pretty clear. The Paramount movie Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters is so far the only other movie slated to come out that day. The film stars Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton.

The preview was played before the midnight showing of The Dark Knight Rises, and “included a climactic gun that was filmed at Grauman's Chinese Theater,” said The Hollywood Reporter.

The Hollywood Reporter has also said that since the shooting last Friday, Warner Bros. has been holding talks about how to change Gangster Squad. The film is about 1940s and 1950s Los Angeles. It follows the LAPD’s efforts to keep the Mafia out of their city and stars Emma Stone, Ryan Gosling, Giovanni Ribisi, Josh Brolin, Sean Penn, Nick Nolte and others.

“With the recent Colorado shooting still fresh in people’s minds, Gangster Squad screenwriter Will Beal is already busy at work re-writing the massacre scene to be placed somewhere else and not inside a movie theater,” said Fox News.

The new release date is to give the film time to re-write and re-shoot the scenes in question. It looks like it may be more than just the movie theater scene that will be different when it is finally released in January.

Seal & Heidi's he said/she said: When cute celeb couples split

Wasn't it just yesterday that Heidi Klum and Seal were singing each other's praises? Today, they are yet another super-cute celeb couple who broke our hearts when they broke up.

Heidi Klum and Seal Attend the Emmy AwardsHeidi Klum and Seal

When model-turned-mogul Heidi met singing sensation Seal and the two began courting, we were intrigued ... particularly since she was preggers at the time with the daughter of her ex-, Flavio Briatore. When Seal gladly took on the role of the little girl's father, we started crushin' on the guy too. To our delight, Heidi and Seal married in 2005 and proceeded to pop out more cute kids left and right over the next few years. And whether they were watching the Lakers courtside or throwing annual fairy-tale vow renewals, Heidi and Seal always seemed genuinely head over heels for one another — until this year, that is, when Heidi gave Seal the ol' "auf wiedersehen." He now says she "fornicated with the help," which in this case would be her bodyguard. Wait, who still talks like that?

Tim Robbins Kisses Susan Sarandon on the Hollywood Walk of FameSusan Sarandon and Tim Robbins

For over two decades, iconic actors Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins set the standard for long-term love in Hollywood. Since meeting on the set of the movie Bull Durham, the two remained completely committed to each other ... yet never married. And we loved them for it! They were the effortlessly cool couple — the hip, liberal, activist parents raising sons Jack and Miles to march to the beat of their own drums. Unfortunately, the couple's own marching apparently took them in different directions. They split in 2010, shocking fans everywhere. She has since opened a New York ping-pong club called Spin — shacking up with her 34-year-old business partner in the venture, Jonathan Bricklin, along the way.

Brad Pitt and Jennifer AnistonBrad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston

How could Jenn and Brad — what with their matching blonde highlights and perma-grins — not become America's most beloved celebrity couple when they became betrothed in July of 2000? It seemed obvious the pair was pretty much in it for the long haul. Or so we thought. Jenn may have made the vow to supply Brad with a steady stock of his favorite banana milkshakes for life, but — sadly — Angelina Jolie's milkshake brought Brad to her yard. This year would have marked Brad and Jenn's 12th wedding anniversary, but these former lovebirds will each be walking down the aisle with new partners soon.

Sarah Silverman and Jimmy Kimmel Attend the Annual Writers Guild AwardsSarah Silverman and Jimmy Kimmel

Sarah Silverman's raw brand of humor can be tough to stomach at times, but her 2002 to 2009 relationship with the milder and more appealing Jimmy Kimmel made the shockster much more palatable. For the first time, we got to see the softer side of Silverman — which, up until that point, we were convinced must be an urban legend. Although the crazy-cute couple was comical, no one was laughing when their relationship went belly-up. We were harboring not-so-secret hopes that these two would reunite one day, but Kimmel proposed earlier this month to girlfriend Molly McNearney. Looks like he doesn't find marriage quite as "gross and fu***** crazy" as Sarah does.

Rachel McAdams and Ryan GoslingRachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling

When Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling starred as star-crossed lovers in the weepy chick flick The Notebook, everyone — and I mean everyone — fell in love with the characters, Allie and Noah. So it was only natural that fans started fueling relationship rumors right from the start and then developed a fanatical obsession with Rachel and Ryan when they did take their offscreen love public. The duo dated from 2005 to 2007, broke up, and then — much like their fickle, fictional movie counterparts — reunited in 2008. Alas, Rachel and Ryan's fate is not to woo each other with unwavering love until their last dying breath. He's now hooking up with hottie Eva Mendes, and she's seeing Welsh actor Michael Sheen.

Did Ryan Gosling win coveted 50 Shades of Grey part?

The author's husband, Niall Leonard, told a UK magazine that Ryan Gosling is likely the next Christian Grey. But many are saying Leonard was misunderstood.

Ryan Gosling

This year, everyone in Hollywood has been waiting to learn what the casting choices will be for the screen adaptations of the Fifty Shades of Grey books. In March, Universal Pictures and Focus Features purchased the rights to make the films for $5 million, and the rumors have swirled since then.

Today's rumor may be one of the best, for so many reasons. According to the Huffington Post, British magazine Now reportedly spoke with a source close to the author herself — her husband.

"The husband of Fifty Shades Of Grey author E.L. James has dropped a strong hint that Ryan Gosling will take the lead role of Christian Grey in the film adaptation of the erotic novel," said Now. "Niall Leonard says that 'last he heard,' Ryan, 31, was in the frame to play the manipulative billionaire."

The rumor can hardly be called a fact, though, since Now didn't directly quote Leonard. And other publications, such as WetPaint, said he may have been misunderstood. Gosling is a favorite for the part, though, and many agree he would make a perfect Christian Grey.

Two producers of The Social Network, Michael De Luca and Dana Brunetti, were hired to produce Fifty Shades of Grey and its sequels, and they have their own vision for what the film will look like when completed. "At its core, Fifty Shades of Grey is a complex love story, requiring a delicate and sophisticated hand to bring it to the big screen," Universal co-chairman Donna Langley told The Hollywood Reporter.

None of the involved parties have mentioned much about what they are looking for in actors to play the two main characters, but seeing Ryan Gosling in some intimate love scenes could potentially be a huge draw for the target female audience.

Neither James nor Leonard have responded to the report that Leonard gave away the Gosling casting rumor, but hopefully we will have more news soon.
