Ryan Gosling is Christian Grey?

If E.L. James' husband is to be believed, Ryan Gosling is the front-runner to play the wealthy, handsome hunk. However, the author cleared up the confusion during an interview with Ryan Seacrest.

RyanGoslingChristianGrey

The hottest role up for grabs in Hollywood just got even hotter, thanks to a circulating rumor that Ryan Gosling might be playing Christian Grey in the upcoming film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey. It all started when the husband of author E.L. James was featured in the couple's hometown paper as the inspiration for the main character. Underneath the article, the paper placed a photo of the hunky actor.

That's when the rumors began to fly, as the media picked up on the story, thinking James' husband, Niall Leonard, had the inside track on casting. As the bestselling author told Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS-FM show this week, "As usual, it's all been misreported. No, my husband has not spilled the beans."

Whether or not Gosling actually does get the role remains to be seen, as there are other celebrity names being bandied about Hollywood, including Matt Bomer, Jake Gyllenhaal, Christian Bale and Chris Pine. Most importantly, who does James want to see in the role of the dashing Grey?

Currently, she declines to reveal who is at the top of her list since "[It's] far too early in the process." However, when Vampire Diaries actor Ian Somerhalder was mentioned, she did say she was a big fan of the CW show. Does that put Somerhalder at the top of the list?

Well, probably not, as final casting is usually up to the studio. We will have to wait a bit longer to see who will play the gorgeous S&M enthusiast.

Fifty Shades of Grey, the first book in James' trilogy, is being adapted for the silver screen by the producers of The Social Network. Michael De Luca and Dana Brunetti are working with Universal Pictures and Focus Features after a hotly contested bidding war erupted over the film rights to the first book. No release date has been announced yet.

Gangster Squad set to rumble in January

Rated R for Ryan? Gangster Squad takes audiences on a gun-toting, high-stakes ride through 1949 L.A. It was originally set to shoot into theaters later this month, but it's been reassigned to release in January and we can't wait.

High-quality action meets high-caliber impact when L.A.'s finest go up to bat against the city's most powerful crime lord.

Mickey Cohen might have the majority of the police force under his corrupt command, but Sergeant John O'Mara and Jerry Wooters round up the last rough-and-tough few to take on the dark world of drugs, guns and prostitutes inspired by the real-life history of West Coast, Mafia-driven crime.

Gosling domineers as a vindictive, no-holds-barred man on a mission looking to reclaim justice and win the heart of Grace Faraday , Cohen's beautiful, manipulative moll.

Sound fun yet?

"Wanna take me away from all this and make an honest woman out of me?" -- Faraday

"No ma'am, I was just hoping to take you to bed." -- Wooters

Gangster Squad storms into theaters Jan. 11, 2013.

Gangster Squad - Official Trailer [HD]

http://gangstersquadmovie.comhttp://www.facebook.com/GangsterSquadIn theaters January 11th.Los Angeles, 1949. Ruthless, Brooklyn-born mob king Mickey Cohen runs the show in this town, reaping the ill-gotten gains from the drugs, the guns, the prostitutes and—if he has his way—every wire bet placed west of Chicago. And he does it all with the protection of not only his own paid goons, but also the police and the politicians who are under his control. It's enough to intimidate even the bravest, street-hardened cop...except, perhaps, for the small, secret crew of LAPD outsiders led by Sgt. John O'Mara and Jerry Wooters , who come together to try to tear Cohen's world apart.

10 TV and movie couples we wish would get together like Mila and Ashton

We all have favorite on-screen couples, whether they’re on TV or in film. So when Ashton Kutcher hooked up with his That '70s Show co-star Mila Kunis, we started thinking about all the other fictional lovebirds we’d like to see reunite in real life.
1

Rachel McAdams
and Ryan Gosling

Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling

Allie and Noah from The Notebook will go down in history as one of the most beloved on-screen couples of all time. When McAdams and Gosling did hook up, the fans went nuts with excitement over the screen to real life romance. We know it didn’t last, but we still have a soft spot for this former couple.

Katie Holmes
and Joshua Jackson

Katie Holmes and Joshua Jackson

Pacey and Joey remain one of those TV couples that make fans of Dawson’s Creek swoon when they think back about the show. We know Jackson is firmly rooted in a long-term relationship with Diane Kruger, but in an alternate universe, how amazing would it be for these two former on-screen loves to create some real life romance?

3

Claire Danes
and Jared Leto

Claire Danes and Jared Leto

My So-Called Life was undoubtedly one of the best shows on television about high school life and what it feels like to be a teenager. Claire Danes and Jared Leto as Angela Chase and Jordan Catalano made for a fascinating on screen pair, and though it’s not really feasible, seeing these two reprise their roles in real life would be pretty cool.

4

Keanu Reeves
and Sandra Bullock

Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock

Speed remains one of those movies we have to watch if it ever comes on television, and the main reason for that is the cute chemistry between Reeves and Bullock, who we always wished would find romance off-screen. As far as we know, they’re just friends, but we still think they’d make a great couple.

5

David Duchovny
and Gillian Anderson

David Duchovney and Gillian Anderson

We know we’re not alone in our desire to see Scully and Mulder from The X-Files get together in real life. Seeing these two become more than past co-stars is a veritable online obsession for legions of fans. Are they or aren’t they? Rumors continue to swirl about whether Duchovny and Anderson will ever be more than friends.

6

Colin Firth
and Renee Zellweger

Colin Firth and Renee Zellweger

Who can ever forget Bridget Jones and her bumbling hookup with straight-laced Marc Darcy in Bridget Jones’s Diary ? While Firth is married and we’re not sure what Zellweger’s romantic status is, those two were so hilarious in both films that we can’t resist wanting to see them together off-screen.

7

Kate Winslet
and Leonardo DiCaprio

Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio

Our hearts do go on for these two, the ultimate romantic pairing from mega-blockbuster Titanic. The minute Jack and Rose locked eyes on board the ill-fated ocean liner, we were smitten with their light-hearted chemistry and passionate love for one another. We’re still holding out hope that longtime friends DiCaprio and Winslet will one day make a real life go of their movie romance.

and Zooey Deschanel

Joseph Gordon Levitt and Zooey Deschanel

There were brief rumors a while back that 500 Days of Summer co-stars Gordon-Levitt and Deschanel were more than friends, but we’re pretty sure nothing ever came of that. However, we’d love to see these two quirky cuties , hook up in real life.

9

Adam Brody
and Rachel Bilson

Adam Brody and Rachel Bilson

If we could magically get Seth and Summer from the The O.C. together in real life, we would. Brody and Bilson made an ultra-cute couple on the show and dated in real life for three years. We even found a Tumblr dedicated to their on-screen romance!

Sophia Bush
and Chad Michael Murray

Sophia Bush and Chad Michael Murray

The real life couple from One Tree Hill couldn’t make it work off-screen . But that doesn’t mean we don’t want them to give it another try now that they’re both older and more mature. They were so cute on the show and we would hope they might be able to get back some of that on-screen spark in the real world.

In 2012, Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel tied the knot and Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively enjoyed an elegant southern elopement. If the world doesn’t, in fact, end on Dec. 21, here are a few other fairytale couples we hope last well into the new year.

Jason Sudeikis and Olivia Wilde in New York CityJason Sudeikis and Olivia Wilde

Hey, buck up boys… if you ever needed proof that funny guys don’t finish last, just look to Jason Sudeikis and Olivia Wilde. He’s known for his comic chops, while she’s known for being obscenely hot. Personally, we like the pairing much more than Sudeikis' last relationship with January Jones — we suspect "guys' girl" Wilde, who cops to things like winning eating contests and swilling beer, is a much better match for Sudeikis' slapstick style. And, since she recently called him "the love of my life" in the Twittersphere, we have high hopes the cute couple will be rocking right through 2013.

Are Jason Sudeikis and Olivia Wilde planning a wedding?>>

Justin Theroux and Jennifer AnistonJennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux

How could you walk away from someone who promises to keep making you banana milkshakes the rest of your life? Such was the question we all asked when Brad Pitt left first wife Jennifer Aniston jilted after five years of holy matrimony. Apparently Angelina’s milkshakes were, ahem, more appealing. Since then, we’ve commiserated as unlucky-in-love Aniston has maintained her trademark pluck through a string of unsuccessful relationships. So when she and actor Justin Theroux went from hot and heavy to on-the-way-to-hitched, we all crossed our fingers our favorite Friend will finally find her happily ever after.

Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling in TorontoEva Mendes and Ryan Gosling

We’re gonna go ahead and file Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling under the guilty pleasures category. Their union doesn’t give us quite the same warm and fuzzies we got when Gosling was canoodling with The Notebook costar Rachel McAdams , but looking at them is a pleasurable enough way to pass time. Plus, it’s a win-win when it comes to your own relationship — your significant other can’t heckle you for poring over magazine pages featuring Ryan, since we all know he is sneaking peeks at Eva on Ryan’s arm.

Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom in Beverly HillsKhloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom

With more rumors circulating about the veracity of Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom’s marriage than there are theories about what fillers Kim Kardashian plumps her a** with, it’s kind of amazing the press-plagued pair has managed to rack up several years as Mr and Mrs. The latest gossip rag headlines include fodder of impending divorce, failed pregnancies and Lamar dancing suggestively with other women. However, for fans of the couple’s hit show Khloe & Lamar, such stories about the down-to-earth duo seem far-fetched at best.

Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling: Over?

Trouble in paradise? A solemn Eva Mendes sparks rumors of a split from Ryan Gosling.

Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling: Split?

Hey girl, good news for your Monday: Ryan Gosling might be single again! Well, that is, if you believe that his weeks-long separation from steady Eva Mendes means they've broken up.

According to the U.K. Daily Mail, Mendes and her Place Beyond the Pines co-star haven't seen each other since late December. That, mixed with some recent shots of her looking sad in Los Angeles, makes us assume something's up in paradise.

Ryan Gosling is Christian Grey? >>

Of course, she could just be upset that photographers are following her.

The pair — dating for just over a year — hasn't talked about their relationship at length, but they've been spotted arm-in-arm all over the world. In December, InTouch Weekly even claimed they were preparing for a baby.

"Ryan held the baby and patted him while talking with pals," a spy told the magazine about his adorable interaction with a newborn at a Brooklyn eatery.

"He was a natural! He and Eva took turns holding the little one," the source added. "It was so sweet to watch!"

Who knew Ryan Gosling could dance like that? >>

Gosling has talked at length about being a dad.

"I'd like to be making babies but I'm not, so I'm making movies. When someone comes along I don't think I'll be able to do both and I'm fine with that,"he said in 2011. "I'll make movies until I make babies. I have no idea when the handover will happen."

Uh, swoon.

But, that still doesn't answer whether or not he's with Mendes. We'll be watching closely, though.

Do you think Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes are over?

Ryan Gosling's hot date at the Gangster Squad premiere

$

We were really hoping that Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes have called it quits. We're still not sure it's true, though. Even his date mentioned her.

Ryan Gosling and mother, Donna

Who was Ryan Gosling's date for the Gangster Squad red carpet and premiere? None other than the owner of the most worshipped womb in the world — his mother, Donna. She looked stunning, too, so we know where he gets it from.

What we don't know is the exact standing of his relationship with Eva Mendes. Here's the thing: We want Gosling to be happy — just not with anyone other than us. So, when Ryan stepped out earlier this week without Mendes on his arm, girls everywhere breathed a sigh of relief. Only... that might not mean anything at all.

Despite her lack of presence on the red carpet alongside Gosling, he still made her presence widely known. So did Ry's mom.

"I'm wearing Eva Mendes tonight," Mama Gosling said, according to the New York Daily News. "I raided her closet."

Ryan had her back and delivered an awful blow all at the same time when he confirmed his mother's story. "My mother's wearing all my girlfriend's clothes," he said.

Hey Ryan, that was kind of cruel. Love, Girl.

Emma Stone at the Gangster Squad premiere

Gosling wasn't the only celeb to step out with an unusual date for the Gangster Squad premiere either.

The recently arrested Josh Brolin left his wife, Diane Lane, at home and opted to bring along his buddy Sean Penn instead. We regret that poor Mrs. Brolin was sick, but it was still nice to see this bromance in full force. The two co-starred in Milk.

Meanwhile, co-star Emma Stone's date was also unusual because he was, well, not there. Stone is currently dating her The Amazing Spider-Man co-star Andrew Garfield.

The two are nearly inseparable . Hopefully, his absence is work-related and not a tell into the state of their relationship. Seriously.

So, there you have it: Emma Stone is still gorgeous, Josh Brolin and Sean Penn make a fine couple, and Ryan Gosling is still calling Eva Mendes his girlfriend. Sorry, girl.

Ryan Gosling is on every lady's list

Ryan Gosling is given the cover treatment from People as one of the hunkiest and most lovable actors in Hollywood. Let's face it, the ladies love him.

RyanGoslingPeopleCover

If you're obsessed with Ryan Gosling like most women these days, then you know that the Hollywood hunk's success is global and it spans all ages.

In a new People cover story, the magazine focuses on "America's Most Wanted Man." Ruben Fleischer, director of Gosling's new film, Gangster Squad, explains, "When you're with him you feel different. He has a magnetic quality — larger than life."

If guys are explaining his magnetism, what do women think? Well, one insider to the magazine says, "Women love him because he's just kooky. He's definitely in touch with his childlike side."

That means plenty of dates to Disneyland if you're his girlfriend, Eva Mendes. The couple has been dating since September 2011 and they seem to have a pretty easy relationship. As one source said, "[They] get along so well because she's not needy or smothering. They just work."

It also helps that Gosling "is an incredibly sweet boyfriend," says the source. The magazine just rubs it in to women everywhere that not only is the Drive actor handsome, he's kind, he's talented and yes, he's taken.

He doesn't only dote on his girlfriend, he also takes his mom, Donna, as his date to red carpet premieres. In fact, it was Mendes who helped his mom get ready for a recent Hollywood event by allowing Donna to raid her designer closet.

The 32-year-old actor got his big break alongside Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera in the Disney Channel revival of The Mickey Mouse Club back in 1993. However, it was The Notebook in 2004 that earned the actor his swoon-worthy status.

His on- and offscreen then-relationship with co-star Rachel McAdams made their romance even sweeter. Audiences ate up their performances and Gosling cemented his dreamboat status.

But he wasn't one to rest on his laurels, and the actor went straight to work putting in strong performances in movies like Half Nelson, Drive, and Crazy, Stupid, Love. In fact, it was his role as a drug-addicted teacher in Half Nelson that got him his first Academy Award nomination in 2006.

Audiences will get a chance to see Gosling on the big screen again this coming weekend in Gangster Squad. The crime film also stars Emma Stone, Sean Penn and Josh Brolin and opens on Jan. 11.

Ryan Gosling: Girl Scout cookie dealer

Ryan Gosling is not exactly a natural-born salesman.

Ryan Gosling talks cookies

Ryan Gosling is a lot of things: Hot, a knife-seller… and a Girl Scout cookie dealer? Apparently so.

The Gangster Squad actor stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Thursday to promote the new film — and Kimmel had to clear something up.

"My friend Daniel and his wife, Diane, said that they were about to get on the freeway in Santa Monica, and you pulled up next to them and handed them several boxes of Girl Scout cookies and then drove off,"Kimmel recalled to the actor. "And as you drove off, Daniel said, 'I think that was Ryan Gosling,' and his wife said, 'Yeah, I think that was Ryan Gosling.'"

"So was that Ryan Gosling?" Kimmel asked.

"It seemed like a good idea at the time," he admitted. "Yeah, look, I regret it."

Ryan Gosling and cookies? Sounds like a fantasy we had one time. But, going on…

"When I was a kid, my dad he had side businesses all the time, and somehow — I don't know how — he came upon a truck full of cellophane… and he wanted me to help him sell it," Gosling recalled.

He continued:

"I had a fantasy that one day someone would buy all of it. Like some guy would come along and be like, 'I'll take it all!' Which never happened. So I was walking out of Ralph's one day and these kids were trying to sell their cookies, and I was like, 'I'll take 'em all!' I bought hundreds and hundreds of boxes. I didn't realize how many boxes I was going to have. I had a car full of them and I didn't know what to do, so I started throwing them out the window to people on the street.

Don't celebrate that. At the time I thought, 'This must be what Santa Claus feels like!'... And then I looked at this one person who was looking at me and I realized, through their eyes I was not Santa Claus — I was just a creepy cookie guy. 'What happened to the Girl Scouts? What happened to their cookies?'"

Hey Ryan, we'll take your cookies any time.

Find out what topped the charts this weekend!

1

Zero Dark Thirty --
$24 million

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 2 is sitting quite comfortably at No. 1, proving it's going to take a blockbuster behemoth to oust this epic conclusion. Kristen StewartRobert Pattinson and their fellow vampires rounded out the weekend with $17.4 million.

2

A Haunted House --
$19 million

Marlon Wayans and crew scored some $19 million with their weekend debut, horror spoof A Haunted House. The film is packed full of all the cheesy antics one could expect and features Nick Swardson and Cedric The Entertainer.

3

Gangster Squad --
$7 million

Ryan Gosling, Sean Penn, Josh Brolin, Emma Stone and Nick Nolte didn't quite make the bang they were looking for with the new mobster flick, Gangster Squad. The film landed $17 million in its first weekend but that's quite the lowball considering the all-star cast. Gangster Squad is based on the real-life pursuit of LA mob king Mickey Cohen.

4

Django Unchained --
$10.1 million

Django Unchained is still holding its ground at the box office, coming in at No. 4. Jamie Foxx nails it as Django, Quentin Tarantino's twist on the classic Western star. The film offers a gritty and rather violent portrayal of the American South, but serves its purpose— shining light on the less-than-glamorous, slave-driven past.

5

Les Miserables --
$10 million

Anne Hathaway and Hugh Jackman pulled in $10 million with the classic tale of Les Miserables, landing themselves a seat at No. 5.

Peter Jackson revisits the mystical world of J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings saga with the predecessor film, The Hobbit. From dwarves to dragons, this flick is perfect for anyone looking to nestle in Middle Earth for a while. The Hobbit made out with $9.8 million this weekend when all was said and done.

7

Lincoln --
$6.3 million

Daniel Day-Lewis' portrayal of America's 16th president is still a top contender. The biopic Lincoln, which also stars Tommy Lee Jones and Sally Field, landed a seat at No. 7 this week.

$6.1  million

Billy Crystal and Bette Middler helped reign in $6.1 million with their new comedy, Parental Guidance, a tale of two grandparents who step in to babysit the grandparents when their helicopter parents take off for the weekend.

Texas Chainsaw 3D came in at No. 9, with $5.2 million in weekend sales.

10

A racy Anna Kendrick tweet is getting a lot of attention, thanks to its very sexual tone about Ryan Gosling.

Anna Kendrick in a black dress.

Anna Kendrick is pretty funny on her Twitter account and a certain Anna Kendrick tweet about masturbation and Ryan Gosling has now gone viral.

Kendrick tweeted on Jan. 14, 2013, about seeing Ryan Gosling's new movie and indulging in a little self-love during the film.

Tweeted Kendrick, "Ugh - NEVER going to a Ryan Gosling movie in a theater again. Apparently masturbating in the back row is still considered 'inappropriate.'"

SheKnows: The ultimate love and sex survey>>

Anna Kendrick's Twitter feed is filled with hilarious tweets, some of them pretty racy. .

Take for example, Kendrick's tweet from Jan. 4, 2013. " 'I'll have whatever just gave that woman a screaming orgasm in the middle of this deli' #AwfulFirstDraftDialouge." The hashtag phrase she used was popular on Twitter at the time.

On Dec. 10, 2012, Anna Kendrick tweeted, "Thought for the day: If I were going to take a naked picture of myself, I would at least clean my room first."

One our favorite tweets is from Nov. 1, 2012, when Anna tweeted about the aftermath of Halloween for some people. She tweeted, "How is #WalkOfShame not trending the day after Halloween? I think *some* people aren't being honest this morning…"

Ryan Gosling's almost music career

How have we never known about this?! Ryan Gosling could have been... a Backstreet Boy?

Ryan Gosling could have been a backstreet boy

Here's the scoop: Back in the day, when Ryan Gosling was doing that little television show called The Mickey Mouse Club, he lived in the same apartment complex as Backstreet Boys' A.J. McLean. The two dudes used to shoot hoops together and McLean would talk about his impending fame.

“They were just forming that band, so he was saying how big they were going to be — and he had a poster of them in his house. We were like, 'Just shoot the ball, dude. It's never gonna happen,'" Ryan said in an interview with Celebuzz. Later he playfully lamented, "Cut to — I was wrong."

Oh, Ryan. We think you made the right decision. You weren't meant for hanging with Backstreet boys, or NSYNC's Justin Timberlake and J.C. Chasez while wearing oversized pajamas, either.

He went on to tease that he's tried calling A.J. , but that the Backstreet Boy never returns his calls. Adding to the playful drama, TMZ ran into McLean at some club/shopping mall-type facility and asked him if he'd heard Ryan's interview.

A.J.'s "excuse" for not calling Ryan was that he doesn't have his number. But, he told the studly actor to stop him at the gym and they could reconnect.

"If we ever need a sixth Backstreet Boy..." McLean said.

Just so we're clear: This can never happen. But, if it did, Ryan wouldn't be just some silly addition. If he came in, someone else would have to go. Our vote is Howie. Others have suggested Nick Carter, but we're a little concerned about what he'd get into if he got too bored.

Luckily for us, instead of ending up in a band that would eventually fizzle out, Gosling found his fame in acting, where his career is still going strong. That doesn't mean we can't still watch him sing and dance, though. Remember this awesome scene from Remember the Titans? We'll never forget.

Plus, you know, there's The Notebook. We can't actually remember any musical numbers, but we still think it's a valid reason to be happy about Gosling's decision to follow acting.

The world applauds your decision-making skills, Ryan. And those abs.

If you’re feeling sentimental: Definitely, Maybe. How cute was he as a 38-year-old dad who, with help from his daughter, rediscovers his feelings for a long-lost love?

If you need a good laugh: The Proposal. In this funny romcom, highlights include Reynolds chopping wood all manly-like and subsequently stripping down for a shower. Need we say more?

If V-Day has you seeing red: Blade: Trinity. As a member of a group of hardcore vampire hunters, Reynolds doesn’t win any hearts here — rather, he drives stakes through them. Oddly, his bloodlust just makes us lust after him more.

Ryan Gosling at the Critics' Choice AwardsRYAN GOSLING

Oh, Ryan Gosling... how do we love thee? Let us count the ways. We love the way you are stupid hot but actually have a reputation for being brainy. We love the way you totally make us believe you are every bit as charming in real life as you are on the silver screen. And, yes, we totally love your smokin’ bod. If the idea of spending the day with Gosling melts your heart, warm up to these flicks:

If you are a hopeless romantic: The Notebook. A man who remains by his ailing wife’s side without faltering, reading their love story to her every day? Yes, please!

If gratuitous glimpses of a half-naked Gosling are more your speed: Crazy, Stupid, Love. Emma Stone hits the nail on the head when her character observes that Ryan’s chiseled physique looks airbrushed. Swooooon.

If you recently broke up with someone: Murder By Numbers. Chances are you aren’t in the mood for any smarmy emotional storylines. Opt instead for Gosling as a manipulative mastermind of homicide.

Ryan Phillippe at the Vanity Fair Oscar PartyRYAN PHILLIPPE

Ryan Phillippe’s stock took a dip when he stepped out on then-wife Reese Witherspoon, but we’re inclined to forgive him since she’s since found love, marriage and now a baby with agent Jim Toth. Now we can once again openly fawn over Phillippe without feeling guilty, and he’s given us plenty of movie fare to admire him in. Check out:

If you can’t help but fall for the bad boy: The Lincoln Lawyer. Not only does Phillippe make chillingly creepy look hot here, but he also stars alongside Matthew McCona-hottie. Score!

If you love a man in uniform: Flags of Our Fathers. Embrace your patriotic side with this film, whose poignant story and slew of heroic sailors and soldiers make it a must-see.

If you want classic Phillippe: Cruel Intentions. There’s a reason this movie made Phillippe a star: He’s brilliant as a narcissistic rich kid who finds, albeit too late, that the love of a good woman is worth fighting for.

Valentine's Day movies for him and her

$

Here's the deal, ladies: We men — though it may be last-minute, nearly every time — go to great lengths to show our love for you each Valentine's Day. The least we could ask for in return is one romantic holiday without The Notebook. But because we care so much, we'll keep Gosling in the equation.

Compromise has such a heavy connotation to it — especially within the context of a holiday like Valentine's Day, which is so heavily focused on loving your better half and stepping outside your norm to make sure they know you care about them.

That being said, I think I speak on behalf of most men when I say that we'd like just one lazy Valentine's Day afternoon without the interruption of Dirty Dancing, Ghost, P.S. I Love You or — dare I say it — the damned Twilight Saga.

Take the ultimate love & sex survey, here!>>

Look, we appreciate a love story just as much as y'all, but can we please make an effort to find some movies we'll both agree on? I promise the following films will hold your attention — and as stated, I've managed to keep Ryan Gosling in the mix.

It's a win-win.

1

Drive

Though we may be eternally jealous of your ongoing infatuation with Mr. Gosling, this is one flick we'll actually enjoy with you. Drive is an intense love story about a professional getaway driver who lands in a world of trouble when he decides to help out his beautiful neighbor . Naturally, the two fall for each other.

2

Knocked Up

I think men love this movie because it's something we can relate to. In poetic terms, we, too, were once the misguided, immature bachelors of society; that is, of course, until you came along and swept us off our feet, ultimately growing us into the men we are today. Okay, so maybe Knocked Up isn't the picture-perfect love story, but Seth Rogen and Katherine Heigl star in one of the more realistic portrayals of a one-night stand turned dedicated relationship. The laughs throughout will keep both sexes entertained. If you like this, be sure to check out Judd Apatow's self-proclaimed "sort of sequel"This is 40, starring Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann.

3

The Princess Bride

"Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya," and though I may be slightly embarrassed to admit this, we dudes can actually appreciate this fairy tale love story that was released in 1987. Packed full of comedy and adventure, this film is about the beautiful blossoming of Buttercup and Westley's relationship.

4

Bull Durham

To paraphrase , veteran catcher Crash Davis believes in "the soul, the small of a woman's back, the hanging curveball, good scotch and long, slow ,deep, soft, wet kisses that last three days." If that doesn't grab your attention, no baseball film ever will. Bull Durham is witty and provocative and features some of the best lines ever heard on the big screen. And there's absolutely no denying it's a Susan Sarandon grand slam as jersey-chaser Annie Savoy. Women will appreciate the men in tight pants, and men will love you even more for entering the Church of Baseball.

5

Good Will Hunting

Starring Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Minnie Driver, Robin Williams and Stellan Skarsgard — arguably in their prime — Good Will Hunting is an unforgettable story of friendship, the search for self-worth, healing, purpose and a wicked-smart tale of love. "How ya like dem apples?" This one's man-approved all the way and we know you ladies dig some time with Mr. Damon and Mr. Affleck.

6

No Strings Attached

Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher discover the fine line between the utopian idea of friends with benefits and real, legitimate, serious love. Watch as they break all the rules, cross boundaries and uncover their passion in the hilarious romcom No Strings Attached. Perhaps this is your story — maybe it's not — either way, this thing is awesome for guys and gals.

7

500 Days of Summer

Okay, so this one can be a bit touchy on Valentine's Day as it doesn't quite play out the happy ending we all had in mind, but the fact remains, 500 Days of Summer is one of the most honest love movies out there to date. Joseph Gordon-Levitt reveals his healing process through a number of flashbacks, examining brilliant moments of victory and defeat with his wonderful girlfriend, Summer . This flick is spot-on when it comes to illustrating the woeful, defeated, Smiths-driven soundtrack of melancholy life on the single track which can be so upturned when one finds the perfect counterpart. 500 Days of Summer will reignite the fate that brought you and your babe together, while steering clear of cliché.

8

Casablanca

We had to throw in a classic. This is the stuff that musters up our ideas of Hollywood love, and Casablanca is a timeless hit for anyone with heartstrings. Featuring Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman and Paul Henreid.

Ryan Gosling's a bad man in Place Beyond the Pines

Ryan Gosling is looking for The Place Beyond the Pines. The actor stars in the film where he plays a bike rider turned bank robber. That's a dangerous combination.

Ryan Gosling

Ryan Gosling is one of Hollywood's biggest stars. The actor continues to reinvent himself with every new role. His latest film, The Place Beyond the Pines, shows him in a whole new light. Gosling plays a tattooed biker named Luke who moonlights as a bank robber.

The Place Beyond the Pines centers on a man who unexpectedly learns he's the father of a young child. He attempts to reconcile with his ex-girlfriend to create a family unit.

Unfortunately, he doesn't have the money to support them. Desperate times call for desperate measures, and Luke joins forces with Robin to knock off a bank.

Trailer: Rugged Ryan Gosling in The Place Beyond the Pines>>

In the following clip, we watch as the two men strategize. Is it just us, or has robbery never looked so good? Somehow Gosling pulls off being both carefree and concerned.

His character should have some reservations because on the opposite side of the law is a cop waiting for his big break. All he needs is one criminal to slip up.

Robin's right: Not since Hall and Oates has their been such a team.

The Place Beyond the Pines is directed by Derek Cianfrance. It's the second film he's shot with Gosling, who previously starred in his controversial drama Blue Valentine.

Will a NC-17 rating kill Blue Valentine?>>

The Place Beyond the Pines opens in New York and Los Angeles March 29, in limited theaters April 5 and nationwide April 12.

Emma Watson shoots down Fifty Shades casting rumors

The Perks of Being a Wallflower star, 22, makes it clear she's not interested in being Anastasia Steele.

Emma Watson closeup

Well, that's the thing about rumors. Sometimes they prove to be false: Emma Watson will not play Anastasia Steele in the forthcoming adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey.

Last week, reports surfaced that the Harry Potter star was attached to take the lead role in the film adaptation of the popular erotic novel. Nope, says the word right from the horse's mouth, if Watson can be considered a horse, and Twitter can be considered a mouth.

"Who here actually thinks I would do 50 Shades of Grey as a movie? Like really. For real. In real life," Emma tweeted on Saturday.

She followed that up with a tweet that was just a single question mark, then "Good. Well that's that sorted then." And then a smiley face.

So I guess what you're telling us, Emma Watson, is that you just can't trust rumors sourced to a hack?

Watson is probably feeling a little irritable since she'd already denied she was to be in the movie adapted from E L James' popular book when rumors first circulated last summer.

Christian Grey is more influential than Mitt Romney>>

"I haven't read the book, I haven't read a script, nothing," she told Entertainment Weekly. "There are so many movies you become attached to when I've literally never even received a phone call. I never even saw a script."

So as for now, who knows who will play Anastasia Steele, the trembling college co-ed who meets dominant older business bro Christian Grey and lets him do a whole bunch of stuff to her. Unconfirmed casting rumors have posited actors like Ian Somerhalder, Ryan Gosling and Alexander Skarsgard as Christian Grey.

We should hear something soon, as the Fifty Shades of Grey adaptation is planned for summer of 2014, according to Glamour.

Mila Kunis also denied she was to play Steele at an Oz The Great and Powerful press conference in the UK.

"This Fifty Shades of Grey thing is just not going to leave, is it?"Glamour reported Kunis as saying, at the beginning of March. "No, you will not see me in Fifty Shades of Grey, I'm sorry," the actress said.

Ryan Gosling is taking a break from acting

Hey girl, I'm abandoning you. At least that's what it feels like now that Ryan Gosling has said he's taking a break from acting to reassess why he's doing it.

Ryan Gosling needs a break

Ryan Gosling recently told Huffington Post that he's taking a break and, obviously, we're not happy about it.

"I've been doing it too much," he told Huffington. "I've lost perspective on what I'm doing. I think it's good for me to take a break and reassess why I'm doing it and how I'm doing it. And I think this is probably a good way to learn about that. I need a break from myself as much as I imagine the audience does."

Ryan Gosling: Mama's boy>>

Um. No?

No, Ryan, we don't need a break from you. We promise. We feel like you're breaking up with us. This sounds very much like one of those, "It's not you, it's me" lines. Are you breaking up with us, Ry? Is there another woman? This is just so devastating!

On the bright side, Ryan's still got two movies queued up for release. First up, there's a Place in the Pines, by the same director who did Blue Valentine. In Pines, Ryan plays a tatted up motorcyclist who travels around with the circus. There's also Only God Forgives, which is due in May. After those, he's doing a stint behind the camera, making his directorial debut with How to Catch a Monster, which will star his girlfriend Eva Mendes.

Maybe by the time he gets done with all that, he'll be willing to return to us.

Ryan Gosling's day as a cookie salesman>>

In all fairness, we understand. Our love of stars and celebs puts a lot of pressure on them to be perfect. Especially in Ryan's case. While many other guys made a name for themselves with the ladies by being a bad boy, Ryan solidified his place in our hearts by being a much more sensitive and decent character . That must be a lot of pressure to try to hold onto that romance. We understand... but we'll still miss him while he's away.

We need a drink. Or a nap. Or both.

Eva Mendes wants tabloids to blur her dogs' faces in pics

$

A profile of actress Eva Mendes goes in a weird direction once she starts talking about her privacy. A really weird direction.

Eva Mendes in a black dress

So Eva Mendes really enjoys her privacy, maybe?

Gawker put it best: "Most of New York Magazine's April profile of actress Eva Mendes is devoted to her refusing to talk about things."

She wouldn't discuss her relationship with Ryan Gosling, she didn't want to talk about whether or not she wants kids, she didn't even want to talk about her role in the upcoming film How to Catch a Monster, directed by Gosling.

One thing she was apparently OK disclosing: She doesn't want the paps to get shots of her walking with the dogs she and Gosling own.

"She wishes that tabloids would blur the faces of their dogs, Hugo and George , in photos, like British papers do to kids' faces,"New York Magazine writes.

Mendes apparently doesn't like people knowing her dog's names.

Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes' scary Paris trip>>

"I'll go somewhere and they’ll be like, 'Hey, Hugo!' and I'm like, 'How do you know Hugo's name? That's so creepy!'" the magazine quotes her as saying.

Granted. However, Mendes talks about Hugo in interview after interview, including, as Gawker points out, multiple minutes on Hugo on the Late Show with David Letterman last week.

"His name's Hugo," Mendes simpered, drawing out the "u.""Well, 'Ugo' if I'm upset or need to give him a command," she added.

Mendes then went on to explain that Hugo's breed, Belgian Malinois, was trained to attack and Hugo himself was trained on a farm in Belgium. In fact a Belgian Malinois accompanied the Navy SEAL forces who routed Osama bin Laden.

Beware of the serial dater: Ryan Gosling>>

"All he wants to do is prove his love for me, all he wants to do is kill for me. It's so sweet," Mendes told Letterman.

This is the same dog, by the way, that had a shock collar that Mendes tested by trying it on herself. No, she didn't put it on, she just put it against her arm.

"It's more than a tingle, it's way more than a tingle," she said. She said it was like a joy buzzer but "intensified."

Mendes also said that she uses the shock collar to prevent Hugo from killing squirrels and other neighborhood animals, and that people really "get mad" at her for using it.

Meanwhile, Gawker helpfully points out that blurring Hugo's face in pap pics wouldn't really work, "because the defining feature of Eva Mendes' dog is not his distinctive face, but the fact that he is the only dog walking next to Eva Mendes."
